IT’S ACTION TIME FOR NEW HOMES IN HARROW NAMED AFTER PIONEERING PHOTOGRAPHER

In a nod to iconic English photographer James Robertson, Barratt London has announced the launch of the Robertson Apartments at its site Eastman Village in Harrow – offering a selection of one, two- and three-bedroom apartments to prospective buyers, situated in the heart of a top London redevelopment area.

Located on the site of the former Kodak film factory, Eastman Village is part of a larger £1.75bn improvement scheme in Harrow which will include two new schools, 3,000 jobs, shops, leisure facilities and commercial space. Boasting five different train lines running into the capital, and a choice of more than 30 local schools in Harrow that have been given the top Ofsted rating of “Outstanding”, the development is set to be a popular location for families and commuters alike.

Homages to the history of photography begin with the site’s name, George Eastman – the village’s namesake was the founder of Kodak, the company that invented roll film and brought photography to the masses. While James Robertson was best known for his iconic and influential photography during the 1800s; he is noted for his Orientalist photographs and for being one of the first war photographers.

The latest addition to Eastman Village is 6 storeys tall. Apartments come in one-, two-and three-bedroom layouts with spacious open-plan living and a balcony or terrace, providing residents with that all-important outdoor space. The space also continues 2/…inside the apartments, with new larger units and spacious terraces available on selected three-bedroom homes.

Due for completion in late 2025, the new building has the added benefit of being one of the nearest blocks to London Overground links at Eastman Village. Its residents will also enjoy the luxury of walking through 1.2 hectares of extensive landscaped parkland and gardens within the development as well as having their own balcony or terrace. There is also a planned residents' gym, cafés, restaurant, and supermarket only a short walk away.

Barratt London prides itself on its high-quality designs. For Eastman Village, the renowned housebuilder is working with prolific architect Pollard Thomas Edwards to build 2,000 modern homes that blend seamlessly with the iconic site. The design features red bricks throughout the development to reference the original Kodak buildings, while subtle graphics in the signage and balcony screens are inspired by the site’s rich heritage.

Such is Barratt London’s dedication in retaining its heritage, that it has also ensured the preservation of the iconic factory chimney at the development, which has been framed by a new building to create an eco-friendly energy centre to heat the homes which will be opening later this year.

Joseph Antoniazzi, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt West London comments: “Eastman Village is a landmark project in the area. The regeneration of the site is providing a beautiful place to live that blends history with modern living. The latest phase at Eastman Village, Roberston Apartments, integrates perfectly into the development. We expect it will appeal to investors and buyers moving from the local and surrounding areas”

Travelling into central London is a breeze from Eastman Village. Residents can reach Euston Station in just 13 minutes by train from Harrow & Wealdstone station. For residents who travel via the underground, Harrow & Wealdstone station is just across the road and has links to the Bakerloo line. This enables central London living in zone 5.And, for those looking to travel further afield the development is in close proximity to the new TfL Superloop which will soon connect Harrow to Heathrow.

Education is also an important aspect of living in Harrow. The town is best known for the prestigious school that bears its name, but it also has plenty more excellent schools for its residents. In fact, 98 per cent of schools in Harrow are judged by Ofsted as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’, making it an ideal choice for families.

There are 46 residences at the Robertson Apartments, featuring one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments with a balcony and terrace in all homes. Prices start from £339,000.
